Nuvo Renewables ("Nuvo", "we", "us") respects the privacy of our customers, website visitors, and everyone who shares personal information with us. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect that information. We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Scope

This policy covers personal information we collect through our website (nuvorenewables.com), by phone, text, and email, in person (including during site surveys), and through documents you share with us.

Consent

By choosing to share personal information with us, you consent to us collecting, using, and sharing it as this policy describes. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide a quote or service.

Information we collect

Depending on how you work with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, email, phone number, and property address.
  • Inquiry details: the service you are interested in, how you heard about us, and any details you send us.
  • Property and energy information: electricity bills, usage history, and photos of your property, collected for your site survey and system design.
  • Referral information: the referral code that brought you to us, and for Nuvo Neighbours ambassadors, your own referral code and the date you accepted the program terms.
  • Financing information: if you apply for financing through our financing partner, the information needed to assess your application.
  • Website usage information: your IP address, device and browser type, pages you view, links you click, and the website or ad that brought you to us.

We collect only what we need for the purposes below.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiry, book your site survey, and design and price a system for your property.
  • To communicate with you about your inquiry or project by phone, text, and email.
  • To send occasional marketing emails about our services, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • To run the Nuvo Neighbours program, including crediting referrals and rewards.
  • To understand how our website is used and improve it.
  • To measure which of our ads lead to inquiries, show our ads to people who have visited our website, and reach people similar to our customers.
  • To prevent spam, fraud, and misuse.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us run our business and website: such as our customer management, email, website hosting, and system design providers, and only as needed for them to do their work.
  • With Google: for website analytics (Google Analytics), ad measurement (Google Ads), tag management, and spam protection (reCAPTCHA).
  • With Meta (Facebook and Instagram): through the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, to measure and improve our ads. When you submit a form on our website, we send Meta a hashed version of your email, phone number, and name, along with your IP address and browser details. Hashing turns your details into a code that Meta can match to its own accounts without receiving the original details.
  • With Microsoft Clarity: to understand how visitors use our pages, for example where they click and how far they scroll.
  • With our financing partner: if you choose to apply for financing through Nuvo. Our financing partner may verify your information, including through a credit check, under its own privacy policy.
  • With the Nuvo Neighbour who referred you: limited to what is needed to credit the referral.
  • When required by law: for example in response to a court order or a regulator.

Cookies and website tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising. If you arrive from an ad or a referral link, your browser stores those details for up to 90 days, so we can tell which ad or referral brought you to us if you later contact us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website may not work as intended without them.

Email and text messages

We text and email you to follow up on your inquiry. We send marketing emails only with your consent or where Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) allows it, and every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is outside Canada, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we securely delete it or remove anything that identifies you.

How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections and access limited to the staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If there is a breach

If a security breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify Alberta's Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals, as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask how it has been used or shared. Contact our Privacy Officer below. We will respond within 45 days, as Alberta law requires.
